C.P.J. has been an avid follower of the federal and provincial political scenes and views election campaigns the same way a football fan may view the Grey Cup.
The addiction to politics began at the tender age of fifteen when his mother’s colleague sought the provincial Liberal nomination in the old provincial riding of Grey Owen Sound. Signed as a teenage member of the Liberal Party of Ontario and shipped off to a hockey arena to cast his ballot several times over the course of an evening. C.P.J. was hooked by the rounds of voting, candidates dropping from the ballot, signs waving, crowds merging, speeches, chanting. In the end his candidate finished second to eventual one-term MPP Ron Lipsett.
Perhaps it was that his man never one that nomination… perhaps it was his need for exploration, his Liberal Party membership did not last long and C.P.J. left the Liberal fold and has not returned.
